ATTENTION GRADE 10, 11, and 12 students

Holland College and UPEI are working closely to assist
Island students explore their post secondary options on PEI through a
campaign called StudyPEI. Part of the project is to provide a Parent
Information Session to parents in each region of the province.

They have organized a Parent Information Session for Eastern PEI to be
held on Thursday, September 28 at 6:30pm, at Montague Regional High School.
Although the main focus will be on post secondary options on PEI, this
event will provide general post secondary information, including programs,
applications, scholarships, residence, and the transition from high school
to post secondary. We are encouraging parents of any high school student to
attend; it’s never too early or late to get started!

What’s up for the month of September

The RCMP is looking for a student considering the field of law enforcement to apply for an opportunity to spend a week at their training camp in Regina, Saskatchewan in November. They will select 1 island student based on application forms. Please see Ms MacGregor Harris for detail ASAP.

We are looking for students in grades 10-12 who would be interested in tutoring junior high students in core subjects on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 3:10 – 4:00. These hours can be used for the Community Service Bursary or Course service hours (Leadership, CEO, Wellness). Please see Ms MacGregor Harris if interested.

Any grade 11 or 12 students interested in the Page program at the Legislative Assembly are asked to visit Student Services for an application form. Interested students should do this before the end of the day Friday, Sept 29th.

Students interested in volunteering at either the Colville Manor or the Souris Hospital are asked to see Ms MacGregor Harris and pick up an application form. Students (grade 10 -12) can use these hours toward a community service bursary or for the service component in Leadership/CEO/Wellness.

Ten Thousand Villages will be hosting a sale again this year at St Mary’s Hall October 20 – 21 st. They are currently looking for volunteers to help with setup on Friday Oct 20 starting at likely about 9 (a non school day) and takedown the next day beginning at 4 pm. If there’s a senior level student who has experience running cash, they could also work some of the sale hours doing that. There is also an opportunity for a group to organize a bake sale at this event, last year our Vimy group took this opportunity to raise $ for their expenses. Students can use these hours for the community service bursary or for courses requiring volunteer hours. Please see Ms MacGregor Harris if you are interested in either of these opportunities.
