Trades Expo is coming to Souris Regional!

On Tuesday, February 9th, between 10:30 – 11:30 , the Trade & Technology Expo will be at Souris Regional. There will be between 8-10 program/industry areas on display, students are encouraged to come out to this event and ask plenty of questions!

Skills Competition in Aerospace

The aerospace industry association in partnership with Skills Canada and Holland College will once again be hosting a provincial aerospace competition. They will be recruiting for this year’s event and will be attending Souris Regional (Feb 8 -12) with the other trades to promote the event.  If you have an interest please see Ms MacGregor Harris in Student Services.

PEI Provincial Skills Canada Competition

The Job Skill Demonstration is open to secondary students. Students can demonstrate any job related skills in a number of trade areas including (but not limited to):
Mechatronics, Hairstyling,Job Search, Mechanical CADD, Aesthetics,CNC Machining, Fashion Technology,Public Speaking,IT Office Software Applications,2D Character Computer Animation
3D Character Computer Animation,welding, Automotive Service, Baking, Autobody Repair, Cooking, Aerospace Technology,Sheet Metal Work,Restaurant Service,Workplace Safety,Plumbing,Landscape Gardening,Robotics,Electronics,Refrigeration,Heavy Equipment Service, Web Site Development,IT Network System Administration,Car Painting,Electrical Installations,Graphic Design,Precision Machining,Automation and Control,Brick Masonry
Photography,Industrial Mechanic/ Millwright,Architectural Technology & Design,Outdoor Power and Recreation Equipment,Cabinetmaking,TV / Video Production,Carpentry

This is a great opportunity for students to break into the Skills Canada world. Students can participate in this competition as well as their respective skill areas. Students are also able to use the time preparing and practicing towards an external credit.

ST FX Information Session

When – Wednesday, Feb 10th, 6:30 – 8:00
Where – Hotel on Pownal

will accept official copies of first semester transcripts from students, as well as applications, reference letters, or anything else that students would like transported to campus. ST FX will not be making admissions decision at these events.

Schulich Leader Scholarship Application

In order to be considered, students must plan on enrolling in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) program at one of the designated Canadian universities. Souris Regional can nominate one student. In order to be considered students must submit the following information to Ms. MacGregor Harris or Ms Jackson Deveau by January 25th, 2016.
Eligibility Requirements
• Academic Excellence
• Demonstrated Leadership in school and community life or provide evidence of entrepreneurial talent
• Financial need

Applicants must submit the following
• One page essay on why you feel you should be nominated for the scholarship. Outline school and leadership accomplishments
• List the name(s) of the program/university you plan to attend
• Two letters of recommendation one must be academic
